- Teacher's Notes -

Welcome to Yoga with Lisa...
I hope to provide my students with clear and insightful instruction that connects body, mind, and soul. Having practiced yoga for many years, I have found that the words and wisdom of many teachers have shaped my understanding and appreciation of yoga.  My teaching style incorporates the principles of Anusara, which focuses on alignment of the body as we move through the poses. I will move around as I instruct and adjust each student to get the best alignment for his or her body. Every body is unique and has its own limitations and challenges; working with each individual's ability level is very important. Yoga is truly for everyone!
One of the many benefits of yoga to connect movement to breath, literally getting our outer movements in line with our inner movements---the breath moving in and out of the lungs, our hearts beating, our blood flowing through our veins, and our thoughts swirling through our minds... Yoga asks us to bring our attention to these movements, and not to necessarily try to control them, but to become more aware of them. Yoga translates as "to yolk" or "to unite." When we can unite our bodies with our minds, we can reach a higher level of awareness that we can start to call on in our daily lives when certain moments might disrturb our inner peace. The physical practice of yoga, the asana, can be our starting point, but yoga is a life practice...we can always come back to our breath and be mindful and realize that we have the power to return to a state of peace.
